Vintage Conn "Trany" tenor saxophone
From C.G. factory (please do not miss our article from Elkhart hub clicking HERE) we introduce this New Wonder Series II tenor sax from 1932.
This model includes several updates that would later appear on the famous Conn 10M “Lady Face” saxophone, such as its beautifully engraved bell. Because it bridges these two generations, this instrument is known as a “Transitional Model”—or affectionately, a “Trany”—highly regarded for its rich, full-bodied tone.
The overall condition of the horn is very good. It has undergone an almost complete overhaul to ensure 100% playability.
The keys are nickel-plated, a typical process of the era, especially for instruments ordered by the U.S. Army. This finish provided excellent protection against harsh climates, even suitable for musicians serving in the Navy. (Interestingly, both John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins were enlisted in the U.S. Navy in their youth—just imagine them playing a horn like this!)
Original case not included.
