Handcrafted with the utmost care in Japan, Wood Stone ligatures allow for the ultimate in resonance. Perfect balance of modern design with the quality of manufacture of the great vintage makers of the past. High quality materials and cutting edge design. A piece of art by master Ishimori, simply a small piece of functional jewellery that makes a difference in its acoustic quality.
The materials and their finishes affect the sound with the following characteristics:
Unlacquered Brass: sound with a lot of resonance
Gold-plated brass: powerful and rich sound in frequencies
Brushed Satin gold-plated brass: voluminous sound with a manageable resistance
Unlacquered Solid silver: very rich in frequencies and warm sound
Pink gold-plated solid silver: round sound with comfortable resistance
American saxophonist Bob Mintzer says: "The Wood Stone ligature is a simply designed ligature that provides the player with optimal reed vibration and a warm, full sound. It holds the reed securely in the mouthpiece and does not restrict the sound in the slightest".
