Alto Selmer Super Sax (Cigar Cutter)
Selmer begins to manufacture in 1931 the "Super Series" models, well differentiated from the previous model "new large bore" by having stamped on the bell the three SSS. Basically there are three versions of this series: Cigar Cutter is the first to appear, being a nickname and never the official name. It was so named because of the similarity that the octave key system had to an antique cigar cutter; as simple as that. Selmer's advertisement at the time was very clear: "the largest bore saxophone with the best timbre ever made".
This horn is in excellent condition, and has a beautiful engraving.
