Description

Alto Selmer Mark VI with LOW A !!!!

This instrument has the serial number #187xxxx and is a collector's dream, a "Low A" Mark VI , saxophones made famous by saxophonist Ornette Coleman. Original lacquer on almost its entire surface and a beautiful American engraving on its large bell.

Similar to Selmer Paris curved sopranos, Sopranino's, Bass saxophone and other models this horn falls under that extremely rare, special hardly ever seen collectible oddities category.  They were made in very small runs or custom order and were never mass produced. It is rumoured that Selmer made less than 200 "Low A" Mark VI altos in the entire Mark VI series.

Nowadays we can rarely see James Carter on stage with a saxophone like this one, which we repaired in one of his visits to Barcelona. You can read more about it here
